Heart of Iowa Communications Cooperative
On February 19, 1958, the South Hardin Rural Telephone Cooperative (now known as Heart of Iowa Communications Cooperative) was established.

The original companies merging together to form South Hardin Rural Telephone Cooperative (Heart of Iowa Communications Cooperative) were Union Cooperative Telephone Company and New Providence Cooperative Telephone Company. The two companies had provided telephone service in the area with the aid of operators and crank type telephones. From 1960 through 2000’s the remainder of the Heart of Iowa Communications Cooperatives exchanges where acquired.

Over the years Heart of Iowa has been evolving in the telecommunications industry to plan for the future.   Heart of Iowa has constructed a 100 % Fiber Optic Network to the Home (FTTH) for the majority of our exchanges, and have a Fiber Optic Network to the Curb (FTTC) in the exchanges of Eldora and Steamboat Rock,  providing Broadband Internet, Landline Telephone,  IPTV, and other technology-related services.  At Heart of Iowa, we truly are keeping you in touch with the world.

Heart of Iowa Communications Cooperative provides service to the communities of Albion, Conrad, Beaman, Eldora, Ferguson, Green Mountain, Haverhill, Laurel, Liscomb, New Providence, Steamboat Rock, Union, and Whitten. Heart of Iowa Ventures, LLC a subsidiary of Heart of Iowa provides service to portions of Gladbrook, LeGrand, and Marshalltown.
